I moved to Sitka in April in order to work at the wonderful Sitka Sound Science Center! This is my second time in the area. I initially came to Sitka in the summer of 2012 to volunteer as a restoration intern on Sheldon Jackson Campus. Funnily enough, I have very fond memories of reinsulating the Hames Center’s roof!
I am so excited to teach Salsa Rueda at Hames! I have been dancing this style of salsa for six years now and I love it. In the past, I have danced and choreographed in several dance troupes, performing West African, Latin, and Jazz dance. My partner in life and dance, Kyle, will be assisting with the class.
We have found rueda everywhere from Flagstaff, AZ (my hometown) to Westport, Ireland – we can’t wait to dance it in Sitka!
